Storm season started with a bang !

Yesterday at the end of the May holiday just after 10 o'clock in the sky began to appear the first storm clouds. Over the next few hours they grew stronger to form supercells  near Darlowo and Miastko. Both supercells were very heavily hydrated and gave numerous dangerous ground discharges. Analyzing the course the storm going from Miastko towards the northeast , I decided to go and position myself in a suitable place to wait for it. And so I managed to catch the first formation in the vicinity of Darzyn where I found a perfect spot on a hill to see a slightly extended shelf cloud. When this formation passed behind it another one appeared. A quick change of location. This time around Nowa Dąbrowa where I had a view of the approaching front of the storm cell. Standing in a field by the road, I could admire the beautiful contrasts where fields of rapeseed and green grain perfectly matched the theme of the approaching storm.  The storm was moving slowly. This formation also showed a small shelf cloud which gave a large rainfall and hail. After the storm passed, the sun came out and I could still admire the receding formation for a while. But that was not the end of the beautiful views.

The day ended with a colorful sunset. Looking at the precipitation and discharge radar, I saw another formation near Kołobrzeg that was moving northeast toward Ustka. And so it happened. The night storm arrived after 11:30 p.m. I took Włynkówek as my vantage point to admire the beautiful discharges and waves of rain enclosed in a cell illuminated by lightnings. It was an electrifying end to the day and a good start to the thunderstorm season, which I hope will be rich in numerous storm structures and formations in the Pomeranian region.
