A few frames from yesterday's dancing aurora which beautifully decorated the northern sky Saturday evening. The strongest eruption on the sun in 20 years that took place a few days ago brought us an incredibly strong aurora on Friday, May 10, 2024 with a strength of G4-G5! and index KP9! literally blew out all the parameters closing the measuring scale. But dense clouds and fog disrupted observations of this beautiful spectacle in Pomerania and most of the country. Only some places in Poland had a weather window. Yesterday's aurora on 11.05.2024 was a continuation of Friday's where outbursts still occurring on the sun. Yesterday, just before 11 pm, a single stripe of pink light pole with a slight strand of green tint began to appear on the horizon and within 5 minutes the show began.... The aurora began its dance from right to left heading towards the moon. The aurora showed beautiful columns of light visible to the naked eye. In the camera with longer exposures the colors were wonderful, shades of pink, purple and green created a wonderful aurora show. It is worth watching the parameters at www.spaceweatherlive.com/en. html where there is a preview of solar activity and the possible occurrence of the northern lights, looking specifically at the KP index , solar wind speed (km/s), density (p/cm3), and the factor (Bz ) which indicates the direction in which solar particles enter the Earth's atmosphere, with a negative value of Bz indicating that most particles will hit the Earth in northern latitudes, while a positive value of Bz suggests that particles will hit the Earth in southern latitudes.
